Why Wales? The answer, memorably expressed by Cynog Dafis, is a thump on the chest. There is no reason, it is in the heart.
We dont have good prospects
by most official measures. Standing in the utter beauty of gold green in June it's hard to imagine a miserable future in Wales.
Historically Wales has given the world industry and then ameliorated it with socialism, soldiers and healed by providing
the NHS. In my time our Plaid MPs got the UK to pass its first green law, the road traffic reduction act, then founded a new nation on sustainable development. Then tried to stop the bombing of Iraq and later succeeded in stopping the bombing of Assad in Syria.
Struggling and oppressed countries think of Wales as a friend, others as an ally.
I think our success is bound up with our role in the world.
